Among the initial strategic priorities identified by Apprenticeship Carolina™ is a focus on building the capacity of the System’s 16 colleges to support employers’ needs within registered apprenticeship programs. To further this goal, up to $15,000 in grant funding was made available to each of the colleges to support curriculum development as a component of new registered apprenticeship programs. The following awards have been made:
- Aiken Technical College for support of registered apprenticeship programs for Chemical Operators and
Multi-Skilled Industrial Maintenance Repairers;
- Central Carolina Technical College for support of a registered apprenticeship program for Machine Operators;
- Denmark Technical College for support of registered apprenticeship programs in Multi-Skilled Industrial Maintenance Repairers
- Greenville Technical College for support of registered apprenticeship programs for Emergency Medical Technicians/Paramedics;
- Horry-Georgetown Technical College for registered apprenticeship programs in HVAC;
- Midlands Technical College for registered apprenticeship programs for Boiler Operators;
- Northeastern Technical College for registered apprenticeship programs in Electro-Mechanical Maintenance;
- Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College for registered apprenticeships for Industrial Truck Mechanics;
- Spartanburg Community College for a registered apprenticeship program for Pipe Fitters;
- Trident Technical College for a registered apprenticeship for Production Technologists (Molders); and,
- York Technical College for registered apprenticeship programs for Chemical Operators.
All colleges have an opportunity to apply for additional funding through a competitive grant process to be completed later this Spring.
