- Nearly 235,000 students were enrolled in credit and continuing education programs at the System’s Technical Colleges in 2005-06
- Students at the System’s Technical Colleges are: 96% South Carolina residents; 36% minority; 64% female; 59% age 18-24 (Fall 2006, credit only)
- 49% of all SC public college or university undergraduates attended the System’s Technical Colleges in Fall 2006
- 55% of South Carolinians enrolled as undergraduates in SC public higher education participated in a credit program at the System’s Technical Colleges in Fall 2006
- Associate degrees awarded by the System’s Technical Colleges rose more than 30% over the past decade, compared to approximately 21% nationally (CHE & National Center for Education Statistics)

- The System’s Technical Colleges generated 33% and 44% increases in Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing graduation rates from 2002-06
- The average annual income for allied healthcare jobs in South Carolina is $40,000+, compared to the state’s per capita income of $29,688 (US BLS & BEA 2006)
- Other areas with increased numbers of graduates to meet South Carolina’s critical needs include:
• 154%, early care and childhood education
• 64%, radiologic technology
• 40%, surgical technology

- The average annual income with an associate’s degree or advanced training is $35,000+, at least $9,000+ more than a high school diploma or less (CHE Statistical Abstract 2007)
- Since its inception, the System’s customized, start-up workforce training division has trained nearly a half of a million workers, for more than 1,800 companies
- In just a five-year period, the System’s Center for Accelerated Technology Training (CATT) and its readySC™ program have seen a 33% increase in trainees (2003-2007)
- CATT worked on 90 projects in FY2006-07; 51% for new industry and 49% expansions
- The System generated a $12.10 ROI for every $1 of state contributions (FY04)
- CATT generated a $16.50 ROI for every $1 of state contributions (FY04)
- Increased earnings of CATT-trained workers generated $7 million in additional tax revenue from 2001-05
