Budget cuts wound all in Horry and Georgetown counties

The cuts affect all agencies and will be felt by nearly every resident in Horry and Georgetown counties: Medicaid recipients will no longer be able to use hospice services; college students will face larger classes taught by professors strained by greater work loads; state employees have to take days off without pay; physical education teachers will be reassigned in Horry County Schools.

Bill would restructure higher ed governing

State Rep. Murrell Smith, R-Sumter, has filed a bill he hopes will get people in South Carolina talking about the structure of the state’s higher education system. Specifically, he wants to unify state colleges and universities under one governing board.
