The Academic and Student Affairs Division led efforts to receive a $2500 grant from ATIXA to explore how Title IX is being implemented at community colleges in the Southern region. Many of the available resources as it relates to Title IX implementation are designed for four-year colleges and universities. While the information is helpful, our intent is to assess current practices at two-year colleges as we continue to develop resources for our System. The grant will also support training initiatives within the System.
Currently a Title IX online resource center has been developed that includes a list of community services available in South Carolina, training modules, pamphlets, flyers, and brochures. Forthcoming, is a peer-reviewed journal article interrogating community college systems responses to Title IX changes. In addition the System Office will present the findings of the research in a 90 minute online training hosted by ATIXA.
