Presenter: Dr. Robyn Mixon, Tri-County Technical College
Description: In technical colleges, educators focus on preparing students with essential hard skills for the workforce. However, it’s often the development of soft skills that helps students thrive in sustainable careers. As college populations become increasingly diverse—with students ranging from dual-enrolled high schoolers to adult learners some having barriers to learning—educators must adapt to support a broad range of learning needs. Many students choose not to disclose disabilities or personal barriers, making it harder for them to access the resources they need. This session will explore inclusive, strengths-based advising and supporting strategies that empower all students to succeed. Participants will gain practical tools for fostering engagement, encouraging the use of support services, and improving student retention and success in technical programs.
